CASTLE STREET POCKET PARK, TOTNES

e-mail

Just outside the entrance to Totnes' Norman castle is a little park created in the early 1970s when the neighbouring terrace of cottages was renovated and saved from demolition. The park was tended by different residents over the years, most recently Tony who moved away in 2018. At this point a new resident moved to the street, Richard Reynolds who had been an active guerrilla gardener elsewhere since 2004. He commenced a significant clearing, replanting. Other residents have donated several plants, materials and also their encouragement. During Lockdown 1 in spring 2020 he dismantled one of the timber and iron benches and renovated it. The park is part of the #LoveCastleSt project revitalising the street through beautification, nature and community connections. Follow updates on Twitter @Richard_001.
